Pizza Friday and New Products

Hey!  It’s been a crazy week.

I do apologize for the delay in getting the Pizza Friday post up, so I’m including two weeks worth…

Cooked – Roasted Beets, Fresh Basil, Herbed Goat Cheese and Balsamic Glaze

OMG this was good!

The goat cheese didn’t melt much, as you can see in the photo, but…wow!  Yummy!

Even DH thought so, once I convinced him to try a bite.  His pizza was a bit more standard:

Onions, Green Onions, Hot Chili Flakes (maybe too many?!) and Italian Seasoning

So… we went out of town last weekend.  Brought stuff along with the best of intentions of eating all NS food and some salads.

…As usual with plans, that one didn’t survive contact with Saturday’s lunch, let alone anything else.  (Lunch at Swiss Chalet – 1/4 chicken, skin removed, steamed vegetables, Chalet sauce and roll.  I added 1 serving of the butter.  Actually, based on their nutritional information – this one’s pretty good, diet-wise.)

At least we were careful enough over the weekend that we were both down from Saturday morning’s weight by mid-week!  I guess not going out to dinner after noshing (restrainedly) on meatballs, cheese and crackers, spanakopita and deep-fried ravioli at the reception was a good idea.

Before we left, I picked up a couple of new products to bring with us for snacks.  If you’ve seen these Power Fuels on the shelves at your local grocery store, you may want to take a closer look at them:

Black Diamond Cheese Sticks

Cheese sticks – real cheese!!  (not string cheese!)  They come in a Medium Cheddar, Marble, and Old Cheddar.  DH is thrilled – he loves old cheddar.  12 per package.  I picked them up at $5.49, which looks like it’s supposed to be an introductory price.  For comparison, the brand name string cheese is regularly around $7.99 for 16.

And this one:

Low Fat, Mini Sausages
Back view – each pocket contains 70 calories

I have to confess a fondness for portion controlled foods – especially when it comes to packing the lunch bags.  These are tasty and meaty.  10 calories short of the minimum for an official PowerFuel, but they’re decent in protein.  And, hey!  half a pocket – 2.5 mini sausages – is only an extra!

Which is why tonight’s pizza had meat on it:

Roasted Red Peppers, Roasted Onions, Black Olives, and Mini Sausages

You can just see them hiding under the red peppers in the upper corners.

DH and I agree that this one was another winner.

By my calculations:  One NS Dinner entree, and 1 extra

Goodnight, folks!
